Port of Kaohsiung - Port and Cruise Service Center

Role: Project Designer

The key objectives for the Port of Kaohsiung Passenger Transportation District - Port and Cruise Service Center competition proposal are to create a modern maritime gateway or “beacon” for Kaohsiung, to serve as a catalyst for future area developments, and to consolidate all port services under one main complex.

The design concept is inspired by the abstracted metaphor of the “rolling waves”.  An iconic undulating roof form is used to unify all building components.  The two prominent “waves” in the center of the complex house the two main program components: the Cruise Terminal Building and the Port Service Center.

I was the lead project designer for this competition proposal.  This was one of three international design competitions in Taiwan I entered between 2011-2012.
