Inspired by the “Banyan Tree” metaphor, the entire central Festival Walk district is covered by a large open air canopy that provides shading from the harsh summer sun and protection from the seasonal monsoon, and to allow for the continuous use of the entertainment complex. This eco-sensitive master plan, known as Future City at Kharghar Hill, totals over 14 million SF of commercial, residential and entertainment program.
This winning consortium entry was selected by CIDCO in early 2010. Working in collaboration with Ajit Bhuta & Associates (India), I was the lead project designer in charge of the competition design proposal.
