Kaohsiung Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center Master Plan

Role: Project Designer

The key project objectives for the Kaohsiung Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center international competition proposal are to establish Kaohsiung as a main hub for the Asia-Pacific pop music and to create an international cultural exchange for maritime culture.

The design concept for the master plan and building designs of the Kaohsiung Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center is inspired by the abstracted metaphor and movement of the musical staff.   The fluid movement of the “musical ribbon”, as it symbolically moves through the project’s master plan creates sleek modern architectural forms and defines urban spaces for public gatherings.

I was the lead project designer for this competition proposal.  This was one of three international design competitions in Taiwan I participated in between 2011-2012.
