Qinhuangdao Bus Canopy and Subway Entry Prototype

Designed as an abstract representation of a sail flexing in the wind, the proposed Qinhuangdao Bus Canopy and Subway Entry prototype uses a custom point support glazing system to give shape to the complex canopy geometry and to bring light down to the station below.  Dichroic glass of different colors and patterns will give an iridescent and dynamic quality to the intricately supported glass canopy.

While all entry canopies will utilize the same point support glazing system, the undulation and the curvature of the canopy will be unique to each station to accommodate requirements that may be specific to a particular site.

This design proposal was completed in 2013 as one of a collection of purely conceptual proposals for a Chinese developer interested in exploring potential real estate development opportunities in Qinhuangdao, China.
