Qinhuangdao Gem Auction Hall

Role: Project Designer

Located in close proximity to the proposed Qinhuangdao Gem and Mineral Museum, the proposed Qinhuangdao Gem Auction Hall will be the premier destination where China’s emerging middle class and foreign tourists come to purchase and bid on precious gemstones to add to their own private collections.  In addition to the 3 large public, and 1 highly exclusive private auction halls, ultra high-end international jewelry shops are located throughout the proposed 350,000 SF complex.

Inspired by the chiseled shape of gemstones, the auction hall’s multifaceted glass facades, with integrated photo-voltaic panels and programmable LED lights, will glisten during the day and become an illuminated jewel at night.

This design proposal was completed in 2013 as one of a collection of purely conceptual proposals for a Chinese developer interested in exploring potential real estate development opportunities in Qinhuangdao, China.
